The Next Second

Ya, ya. Live the present moment. The moment - whatever you are doing and focusing on at this moment in time. If you are reading a novel enjoy it and focus on it. Don't get distracted by some work related issue or the TV schedule or...

Ya, ya. Don't sweat the small stuff. If you wake up and there are no more eggs in the fridge and your plans for pancakes are ruined, who cares? Really. If you are sweating in anticipation of some upcoming event. Don't. It may never happen.

You never know what will happen in the next second. So live this moment to the fullest and make it the biggest and most important time of your life. So they say.

All easier said than done, I know.

I know.

Mobile rings. It is 5:24 PM eastern time. That means 11:24 PM in Europe. Someone who has had a tremendous, positive and lasting impact on my life has had a massive heart attack and is in hospital. My gosh.

5:23 PM all was fine. The onions were slow cooking and sweetening in some olive oil and pancetta. The smell was infusing the house. I had just picked up a book I had borrowed from the library an hour before - State of Fear by Micheal Crichton.

5:24 PM the shocking news.

5.25 PM. The smell of the onions must have continued to infuse our home but my sense of smell was curtailed by what had happened in the immediate past.

Yep...it is easier said than done.

Let me know what you think about what you have just read. Please and thanks!

So sorry to hear about your friend. Your friend is in the hospital so in the best hands - unfortunately, they have a lot of cases and so they know what to do. After he comes back home, it will be up to him to make the required changes. I am talking from experience. Paul (not your cousin) suffered a heart failure Jan 8. He came back 11 days later determined to never go through this again and his resolve is strong. He is doing great these days. Best of luck to your friend. My heart goes to him in the difficult days ahead.
