After some procrastination we have finally put up a "no-flyers" sticker on our mailbox.  We had been thinking about doing this for many months and had just not gotten around to it.  Thursday we decided we had to....and soon.  The reason is that the companies that distribute these annoying flyers have completely lost their minds.  Two examples in photographs below.

The first, above, was a bag loaded with a bunch of flyers for food shops, supermarkets, fast food joints, perfume.  Crap we never look at.  But what really got me was that the company that prints and distributes these bags of dung, Transcontinental, is actually trying to spin this service as green.   "Green looks good on your door - bag biodegradable, flyers recyclable".  I find that to be almost the last straw in pathetic marketing.  No wonder Transcontinental is the sixth largest printer in North America.  Look at all the crap they deliver to who knows how many houses in Montreal - and elsewhere.  Because something is recyclable or biodegradable does not make its consumption, especially when absolutely useless and generally ignored, any more ethical.  Stop the nonsense.  I wish Transcontinental would get out of this brain dead business, that advertisers would stop using them and that consumers all put up no flyer stickers on their doors.

The second picture is of another bag we received the same day.  Check this out:

Take a close look.  The entire contents of this bag was an advert for one extermination company.  That is it.   This flyer got its own bag!

Crazy stuff.  Two separate people were paid to deliver these bags, companies printed them, advertisers paid for this, the bags of flyers were carted around town in minivans, people were employed to run the printing presses, people were employed to sell the advertising......all of this for something that I have to believe most people ignore and just toss out.  What a waste of energy.

Conclusion?  These companies have ignoramuses running and owning their advertising budgets.

Let me know what you think about what you have just read. Please and thanks!

This is a perfect example, among many others, that the "Human race" is dysfunctional. Science and technology are moving forward but "Our minds"...well, "They" are still in early stages of evolution.

How about letting us know where we can get those stickers to stop receiving these things.

Thanks

Good point anonymous....here is a link to one that works: http://www.reddotcampaign.ca/ Or if you search Google Images for No Junk Mail you'll get a bunch you can print.
Cheers.
